Keep away from strong oxidizing agents. Avoid contamination with water, acids, carbon dioxide, or strongly alkaline materials. Contamination with these materials may produce extreme pressure resulting in the explosive rupture of closed containers.

4) HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS:

Normal combustion forms carbon dioxide and water vapor and may produce oxides of nitrogen; incomplete combustion can produce carbon monoxide. Thermal decomposition may produce hydrogen cyanide, benzene, toluene, and acetaldehyde at temperatures above 500°F/260°C.

4) SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:

Depending on concentration and length of exposure, breathing vapor or mist can produce signs and symptoms which may include coughing, shortness of breath, bronchial irritation, chest discomfort, and reduced pulmonary function.

5) MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE:

Breathing this material at concentrations in air that exceed the federal OSHA exposure standards can cause respiratory irritation or discomfort and may cause an allergic respiratory response which may result in asthma-like attacks.

6) EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

Seek medical assistance for further treatment, observation and support if necessary.

7) EYE CONTACT:

Flush eyes immediately with fresh water for at least 15 minutes while holding the eyelids open. If irritation persists, see a doctor. Chemical safety goggles must be worn if there is any chance of contact with eyes.

8) SKIN CONTACT:

Remove heavily contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing. Discard contaminated non-waterproof shoes and boots.

9) INHALATION:

If there are signs or symptoms as described in this bulletin to breathing this material, move the person to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, apply artificial respiration. Call a doctor.

10) INGESTION:

If swallowed, give water or milk to drink. Call for medical advice. Consult medical personnel before inducing vomiting. If medical advice cannot be obtained, then take the person and product container to the nearest medical emergency treatment center.

  4. Clean up small spills using appropriate techniques such as absorbent materials or pumping.
  5. Where feasible and appropriate, remove contaminated soil.
  6. Follow prescribed procedures for reporting and responding to larger releases.
