APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Tough Stuff UR1900 may be applied by medium nap rollers or airless spray equipment. Apply UR1900 only to clean, dry sound surfaces free of loose particles or foreign matter. A primer may be required subject to type &/or condition of the substrate.
Contact our technical department for specific primer recommendations and substrate preparation procedures,
Apply only to roofs that have adequate positive drainage (i.e., a minimum slope of 1/8 inch per foot).
Contact Coatings International with specific application questions.
PERFORMANCE TIPS
- DO NOT THIN
- POWER MIX THOROUGHLY FOR 3 TO 5 MINUTES BEFORE USING
- It is recommended that UR1900 be sprayed in multiple coats applied in perpendicular passes to insure uniform film build and avoid pinholing. Backrolling sprayed material may be necessary to fill pinholes.
- Final cured dry film must be free of voids, pinholes, holidays, cracks or blisters.
- COATING APPLICATION SHOULD BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY AND OUR TECHNICAL SERVICE PERSONNEL CONTACTED IF THE RESULTS BEING OBTAINED ARE LESS THAN DESIRABLE.
- Apply two (2) or more coats of UR1900 at a rate of one (1) gallon per 100 square feet per coat. Second and successive coats must be applied within 48 hours to insure good adhesion.
- Minimum dry film thickness shall be 25 mils.
- Accentuated surface profiles which increase total surface area will require a proportionate increase in the amount of UR1900 to satisfy minimum dry film thickness specification requirements.
- If required, roofing granules may be broadcast into the last coat, within ten (10) minutes of coating application, at a rate of 35-40 pounds per 100 square feet.
- No foot traffic shall be permitted on the coated surface for 12 hours after application.
CLEANUP INSTRUCTIONS
- Clean spills and spatters immediately with MEK or MEK/Xylene blend.
- Clean tools immediately after use with Xylene.
- Clean hands with industrial strength hand cleaner.
- After cleaning, flush spray equipment with MEK/Xylene blend followed by mineral spirits to prevent rusting of the equipment.
