AC5900 PRODUCT DATA


Tough Stuff AC5900 is a single component emulsion polymer based on a combination of pure high tensile elastomeric acrylic and urethane resins. AC5900 is intended for use as a general purpose coating using spray, brush or roller application methods. It has excellent UV stability and hide as well as the ease of water based application.

Recommended Spreading Rate per coat:

Note: Brush, roller, or spray applications will require multiple coats to achieve desired thickness.

Application of AC5900 above maximum or below minimum recommended spreading rate may adversely affect coating performance.

BRUSH

Use nylon or polyester brushes, do not over brush or apply too heavily. Heavy applications will slump on vertical surfaces.


ROLLERS

Use 12, 18 or 24" rollers for back-rolling large areas. Use 1/2" - 1 1/2" nap high-grade synthetic heads with phenolic cores. Rapid rolling will splatter and may become airborne on higher buildings.

SPRAY GUN

Pressure: 3000 psi at 2.5 - 3 gallons/minute for high volume

Tip: .017 - .029 reversible, self-cleaning, with 40-50º fan angle

Gun: Graco Hydra Mastic or high-volume heavy-duty guns

  • DO NOT THIN. Thinning is not needed or recommended.

  • POWER MIX BEFORE USING

  • AC5900 may be applied directly to any clean, dry surface.

  • AC5900 may be sprayed, brushed, or rolled.

  • When spraying AC5900, if ambient temperature drops below 65ºF, it may be necessary to heat the material. In this case, the use of primary heaters and heated/insulated hoses is recommended.

  • Polyurethane foam should be coated within 24 hours of application. Subsequent coats should be applied within 24 hours of prior applications to insure full and uniform adhesion.

  • Before applying a subsequent coat of this product, the previous coat must be completely dry and cured.

  • If any contamination of a thoroughly cured surface occurs, it must be washed with a chemical cleaner before applying subsequent coats.

  • Coating must be extended beyond the substrate to create a self-terminating flashing.

  • Because both colder temperatures and high humidity retard the curing process, there must not be any moisture present on the surface whatsoever.

  • We do not recommend application on flat roofs where ponding water is present or during early morning or late afternoon hours when conditions are conducive to high moisture condensation.

  • AC5900 is not recommended for use without a vapor barrier in cryogenic tank or cold storage roofing applications.

CLEANUP INSTRUCTIONSup.gif

  • Clean spills and spatters immediately with water.
  • Clean hands and tools immediately after use with soap and water.
  • After cleaning, flush spray equipment with water to prevent rusting of the equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer’s safety recommendations.

  • INSTALLERS must read and understand all technical and informational literature on TOUGH STUFF AC5900, including the Material Safety Data Sheets, prior to using this product.

  • The use of an appropriate MESA/NIOSH approved respirator during application is important.

  • Fabric coveralls and neoprene or other resistant gloves are recommended.

  • Applicators should use caution when walking at height during spray process to avoid falls caused by slipping on wet coating.
