1) FLASH POINT & METHOD:

232°F (Pensky-Martens closed cup)

2) AUTO-IGNITION TEMPERATURE:

N/A

3) FLAMMABILITY LIMITS IN AIR % BY VOLUME: N/A

LEL: See Section II
UEL: N/A

4) EXTINGUISHER (MEDIA)

Foam, CO2, Dry Chemical. Water fog may lessen fire intensity.

5) SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES:

During emergency conditions, decomposition products can cause health hazard. Use self-contained breathing apparatus with full face shield operated by pressure on demand or positive pressure mode.

6) UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:

Keep containers tightly closed. Isolate from heat, electrical equipment, sparks and open flame. Closed containers may explode when exposed to extreme heat. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the ground, collect in low areas, or ignite at distant locations. Do not weld on or near containers, even when empty.

SECTION IV - REACTIVITY HAZARD DATAup.gif

1) STABILITY:

Stable

2) CONDITIONS TO AVOID:

Avoid high temperatures and direct heating. Keep from freezing.

3) INCOMPATIBILITY (Materials to Avoid):

Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents

4) HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS:

In case of thermal decomposition, CO2 and CO will form

5) HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION:

Will not occur.

  3. OSHA - no, not listed

3) HEALTH HAZARDS

ACUTE:
EYES: can cause irritation, redness, tearing, blurred vision.
SKIN: Prolonged or repeated contact can cause irritation, defatting, dermatitis.
INHALATION: Excessive inhalation of vapors can cause respiratory irritation, dizziness, headache, nausea, asphyxiation.
INGESTION: swallowing can cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

CHRONIC: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage.

4) SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:

See #3 above

5) MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE:

N/A

6) EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

Seek medical assistance for further treatment, observation and support if necessary.

7) EYE CONTACT:

Flush with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.

8) SKIN CONTACT:

Wash affected areas with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Consult a physician if irritation persists.

9) INHALATION:

Remove to fresh air. Restore breathing. Treat symptomatically. Get medical attention.

10) INGESTION:

Rinse mouth. Drink 1 to 2 glasses of water to dilute. Get medical attention immediately.

SECTION VI - CONTROL AND PROTECTIVE MEASURESup.gif

1) RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:

If TLV of any component is exceeded, use NIOSH/OSHA approved respirator.

2) PROTECTIVE GLOVES:

Use neoprene, rubber, or plastic gloves to prevent skin contact.

3) EYE PROTECTION:

Splash proof goggles, safety glasses with side protection

4) VENTILATION TO BE USED:

  1. Local exhaust: Recommended in confined areas
  2. Mechanical (General): Application areas should be ventilated in accordance with OSHA regulation #29CFR1910.107D

5) OTHER (Specify):

Safety showers and eye bath

SECTION VII - PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE/LEAKSup.gif

1) STEPS TO BE TAKEN IF MATERIAL IS SPILLED OR RELEASED:

Eliminate all sources of ignition. Contain spill and absorb with absorbent material such as sand. Shovel into drums or other suitable containers using non-sparking tools. Notify appropriate authorities if spill enters environment.

2) WASTE DISPOSAL METHODS:

Incinerate in an approved facility or dispose of in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental control regulations. DO NOT INCINERATE CLOSED CONTAINERS. Containers of this material may be hazardous when emptied. Since empty containers retain residues, all hazard precautions must be observed. Do not cut, puncture or weld on or near container. Containers of this material must be properly grounded when pouring. If contents are combined with other materials such as thinners, catalysts, etc., observe precautions.

3) ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:

    N/A

4) PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE:

Keep away from excessive heat, sparks or open flame. Keep closures tight when not in use. Keep containers upright to prevent leakage. Keep from freezing.
